STL IBCRecycle

Factory-Fresh, Zero-Mile Totes

For applications that require virgin material — pharmaceutical, cosmetics, or specialty food processing — we supply brand new IBC tanks from leading manufacturers. Full manufacturer warranty included. Every new tank leaves our facility factory-sealed, UN-certified, and ready for immediate use with no cleaning or preparation required.

While we're passionate about reuse and recycling, we understand that some applications demand brand-new containers. We offer competitive pricing on new IBC totes and can source specialty configurations on request. Our new-tank inventory is sourced from ISO 9001-certified manufacturers who produce to the strictest quality standards in the industry.

We keep 50-100 new IBC tanks in stock at our St. Louis facility at all times for immediate pickup or delivery. For large orders (20+ units), we place factory-direct orders with 2-3 week lead times and pass along factory pricing. Custom configurations — including anti-static bottles, stainless steel cages, composite pallets, and specialty valve types — are available on a made-to-order basis.

Manufacturer Information

ISO 9001 Certified Production

Every new IBC tank we supply comes from a facility certified to ISO 9001:2015 quality management standards. This ensures consistent material quality, dimensional accuracy, and assembly processes across every unit produced. Manufacturers maintain statistical process control (SPC) on bottle wall thickness, cage weld strength, and valve torque specifications. Lot traceability is maintained from raw HDPE resin through finished goods, so any quality issue can be traced to its source within hours.

Raw Material Standards

Bottles are blow-molded from virgin HDPE resin with a melt flow index of 5-8 g/10min (190°C/2.16kg), a density of 0.950-0.960 g/cm3, and an environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR) rating exceeding 1,000 hours per ASTM D1693. The resin is FDA-compliant under 21 CFR 177.1520 and contains no post-consumer recycled content, plasticizers, or BPA. UV stabilizers are added at 0.1-0.3% concentration for outdoor durability. Steel cages use Q235B structural steel with a hot-dip galvanized coating of 40-60 microns per ASTM A123.

Quality Testing at the Factory

Before leaving the factory, each IBC undergoes: a hydrostatic pressure test at 14.5 PSI (100 kPa) for 30 minutes, a drop test per UN standards (1.2 meters onto concrete in the most vulnerable orientation), a stacking test at 1.8x rated load for 28 days, and a vibration test simulating road transport conditions. Bottles are tested for dimensional uniformity with maximum wall thickness variation of 15%. Factory reject rates typically run below 0.5%.

Warranty Details

Full Manufacturer Warranty

Every new IBC tank sold through our facility carries the original manufacturer's warranty, which typically covers defects in materials and workmanship for 12-24 months from the date of purchase (varies by manufacturer). The warranty covers:

Covered

  • Bottle cracks or splits under normal use
  • Valve manufacturing defects
  • Cage weld failures under rated load
  • Pallet structural failure under rated load
  • Cap thread defects preventing proper seal
  • Premature UV degradation (within warranty period)

Not Covered

  • Damage from chemical incompatibility
  • Freeze damage (water expansion)
  • Physical impact damage (forklift puncture, drops)
  • Overpressurization above rated limits
  • Normal wear on gaskets, seals, and valve seats
  • Modifications or aftermarket parts

Warranty claims are processed through our facility. In most cases, we can provide a replacement unit from our local stock within 1-2 business days while the manufacturer processes the claim. Save your purchase receipt and the IBC serial number (stamped on the data plate) to expedite warranty service.

New vs. Reconditioned: Decision Guide

Choose New When...

  • Your application is regulated by FDA, cGMP, USP, or equivalent standards that require virgin containers
  • You are producing pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, or cosmetics where container history matters
  • You need a current UN 31HA1/Y certification for hazmat transport of Packing Group II or III materials
  • Your customer or end-user contract specifies "new containers only"
  • You need anti-static (conductive) HDPE for flammable-liquid applications
  • You need a specific color, custom labeling, or non-standard valve configuration

Choose Reconditioned When...

  • Your application permits reused containers (most food, agricultural, and industrial uses)
  • You want to save 40-60% without sacrificing functional performance or cleanliness
  • You are tracking sustainability metrics and want documented CO₂ savings per unit
  • You need bulk quantities quickly — reconditioned totes are often available in higher volume than new
  • Your stored product will be consumed within 1-2 cycles and the tote will be retired
  • Your organization has a green procurement policy or circular economy commitment

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the expected lifespan of a new IBC?

Under normal conditions (compatible chemicals, temperatures within rated range, UV protection), a new IBC bottle can last 5-10 years or 4-6 fill cycles before the HDPE begins to degrade. The steel cage and pallet typically last 15-20+ years. After the original bottle reaches end of life, it can be replaced with a new bottle on the same cage — a process called rebottling — extending the assembly's useful life indefinitely.

Can I get a Certificate of Compliance (CoC)?

Yes. Every new IBC we sell comes with a manufacturer's data plate stamped on the cage showing the UN marking, production date, and approval number. We can also provide a formal Certificate of Compliance from the manufacturer upon request, which includes resin lot numbers, quality test results, and FDA compliance documentation. Allow 5-7 business days for CoC requests on stock units; factory orders include the CoC automatically.

What is the minimum order for new tanks?

There is no minimum order for standard configurations — we sell individual new tanks from our in-stock inventory. For custom configurations (anti-static, non-standard valves, custom colors), the factory minimum is typically 20 units. Volume pricing starts at 4 units, with the best per-unit rates available on truckload quantities of 50+.

Do you offer recurring supply contracts?

Yes. For customers with ongoing new-tank needs, we offer annual supply agreements with locked pricing, guaranteed availability, and scheduled deliveries. This is popular with food processors, chemical distributors, and manufacturers who consume 50-500+ new IBCs per year. Contact us to set up a supply agreement tailored to your consumption pattern and delivery schedule.

Eco Tip

Consider whether a reconditioned IBC tote could serve your needs just as well as a new one. Our reconditioned tanks undergo rigorous cleaning and testing, and they save approximately 350 kg of CO₂ compared to manufacturing a new unit. Check our size guide to compare options.

Even when your initial fill requires a new container, plan ahead for the container's second life. After use, your new IBC can be sold back to us for reconditioning, returned to your supplier for reuse, or repurposed on-site as a storage vessel. A well-maintained IBC can serve 4-6 fill cycles across multiple owners, dramatically reducing its per-use environmental footprint. We offer a buyback program for clean, single-use IBCs at competitive rates.
